August 2022 Review of my Online Marketing Business
How many hours did I work on my marketing mentoring business this summer?
Since I quit my marketing manager job back in January 2020 for this entrepreneurship gig, the main aim was to “take summer off”. Did I manage to do it this year?
Sort of… [keep reading for hourly breakdown and revenue!]
I succeeded in keeping Penny at home with me - no holiday clubs needed! This makes me very happy. It’s my non-negotiable to spend quality time together during school holidays. I am SO grateful I get to run my home life like this.
As part of my monthly reflection, I thought I’d type up a version of what I got up to and hours I worked to share with you. You can be the judge whether this counts as a summer “holiday”.
Seriously, it’s all relative and I’d love to know what your summer looked like - comment below and fill me in on what you got up to.
Here’s my leisure activity for August 2022:
9 gym and sauna sessions (Penny went to the gym’s kids club for 2 hours while I trained)
4 nights (Mon - Fri) at Center Parcs
1 long weekend visiting my gran in Sussex + 1 day trip to London
1 day at Gulliver’s Valley theme park
1 kid’s birthday party
Cake at the Kitty Cafe
2 x school shoe shopping trips to Clark’s (I forgot plimsolls)
Various visits to family members and friends
1 x mummy and daughter lunch at The Fox Cafe
2 x library visits
1 x blackberry picking in the woods
1 x movie date night with Adam
How much time I spent running my business in August 2022
I spent 11 hours supporting and keeping in touch with my clients in August. This was massively scaled down for the summer and felt easy breezy for me.
I managed to clock up 56 minutes on admin tasks. Not sure what happened there… Note to self for next summer: Outsource ALL the admin. I could’ve been reading a book for that hour.
I spent a meagre 1 hour 40 minutes on marketing. This needs to be addressed for next summer. More marketing in August = more clients for September, October, November!
I dedicated 5 hours to lead generation. Namely sending emails and DMs to folks about my offers and I had a few discovery calls.
Electric Email took up 3.5 hours. I like to run these calls over summer so again, this felt easy breezy.
I spent the summer training to become a Mindset Coach!
I also completed my Positive Psychology Coaching certification. Not gonna lie, this was hard graft to get finished during school holidays. I had to work evenings and weekends to get it done by the 21st August deadline. Loved the learning but felt stressed about finishing it! I clocked up 28 hours in August working on this! Phew…
Conclusion - How relaxing was August 2022 for me as an online business owner?
In summary, if it wasn’t for the mammoth effort I put into my coaching certification, I’d have had a SUPER chilled summer. As it was, I chalk it up as a success. We had some amazing family trips and I got to live broadly by my own schedule for a whole month.
How much money did I make? £10,745! A 5-figure month for approx 22 hours working on or in my business is a WIN in my book. The 28 hours I put into the coaching training will pay off this month and next as I launch my Mindset + Marketing offer.
What do you reckon? Sound idyllic or too much like hard graft? Let me know in the comments!
I’ve definitely got some notes for improvement for next year but compared to everyone working the 9-5, I’m living the actual DREAM. My dream!
