How to get 100+ email subscribers in less than a week from LinkedIn in 2025

Last week my client, Emma, added 100 new email subscribers from LinkedIn. I thought I’d share how she did this, in case you want to try it!

A message from my client Emma which reads: Did my first few lead magnet posts this week and my list is up by 100 new people already.

This was from a few posts promoting her new lead magnet.

For context, Emma runs a video production company specialising in creating films for charities. She is about to launch an online course which will help charities to film high-quality video themselves.

The objective for growing her email list is to grow an audience for the course launch.

Here’s the steps we went though (this took a week or so):

STEP 1: Messaging.

We looked at what her audience is struggling with right now and the impact this block has on their ability to reach their goals. We dialed into how her ideal client feels about the problem and the language they use to describe their struggle.

STEP 2: The Freebie.

Working backwards from the course launch goal, we landed on an idea for a freebie which would prime her audience to sign up for the course. Emma had this content already and quickly packaged it up into a PDF.

STEP 3: Increase Opens & Clicks.

Emma needed an engaging welcome sequence to deliver the freebie and warm her new subscribers up ready to buy. We used my welcome email sequence to do this.

STEP 4: Lead Generation.

We added in the call-to-action to jump on the Waitlist for the course launch. This included a special offer exclusive to the waitlist which would guarantee sales for the course before it officially launched.

STEP 5: Subscribers to Clients.

Emma put the freebie out on LinkedIn to scoop up people in her audience who would be a good fit for the course. The freebie speaks directly to them (no one else would need this) and they are now on her email list, ready to get the waitlist offer in her sales emails.

How can you turn followers into subscribers into buyers?

WORK BACKWARDS FROM WHAT YOU WANT TO SELL. This is crucial! If your lead magnet (aka opt-in freebie) is generic, you won’t build a list of buyers. A broad topic for your freebie will be a very slow way to build your list as it doesn’t grab attention.

Emma’s freebie was very specific and based on content she knows works. We packaged it up and got it shared on LinkedIn quickly.
